Jonas started studying the piano at the age of 9 with Mr. Paul Van Nieuwenborgh at the Music Academy of Aalst, where he won the special prize of the Academy, "Johann Sebastian Bach", when he was only 11 years old. In 1998 he went to the Art Academy of Ghent where he studied piano with Mrs. Dorotea Haers. Since 2002, at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, he has been a student of Prof. Daniel Blumenthal and in 2007 Jonas graduated as a "Master in Music" with great distinction. At the end of September 2007 he succeeded the entrance examination for a post graduate study in piano at the Mozarteum in Salzburg (Austria). With the support of the Belgian Foundation "Nany Philippart", Jonas had the possibility to study at the "Universität Mozarteum Salzburg" with Prof. Rolf Plagge. In June 2009 he finished his post graduate study and he obtained the highest score of the Austrian Grading Scale. Currently he is studying at the Academia Pianistica Internazionale "Incontri col Maestro" in Imola (Italy) with Prof. Leonid Margarius and Prof. Boris Petrushansky. Jonas received also masterclasses from famous pedagogues like: Juan José Pérez Torrecillas, Rian de Waal, Vitaly Samoshko, Hans Leygraf, Daniel Pollack, Andreas Staier, Franco Scala, Riccardo Risaliti, Anna Kravtchenko, Vincenzo Balzani and Michel Dalberto.
He participated in many different competitions and won several prizes. Jonas was first prizewinner in the national competition ”Excellentia 2004” (Linkebeek, Brussels). He received the second prize in the “Kaufmann European Music Competition 2004” (Brussels, Belgium). He was given the third prize in the international competition “Eduardo del Pueyo 2005” (Granada, Spain) and also in 2005 he became a finalist of the “Concours International André Dumortier” (Leuze-en-Hainaut, Belgium), where he played in final the last pianoconcerto of W.A. Mozart (KV 595). He was selected for the “Prix d’Amadèo-jeunesse de piano 2007” in Aachen (Germany) and he received the third prize in the international competition from the "European Piano Teachers Assocation" (Namur, Belgium). In 2007 he also became a laureate of the Belgian Foundation "Nany Philippart". In 2008 he received the prizes "Maurice Lefranc" and "Lekime Frison" from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. Also in 2008 he received the third prize of the "Concours International André Dumortier 2008", (Leuze-en-Hainaut, Belgium), where he played in final the pianoconcerto nr 23 of W.A. Mozart (KV 488). In 2010 he was selected for the "Concours International Piano Campus" in Pontoise (France) and he received the "Prix jeune espoir". Also in 2010 he became a finalist of the Concorso Internazionale Pianistico "Premio A. Napolitano" in Vietri (Italy). Jonas gave different concerts , as a recitalist, chambermusician and as a soloist with orchestra. At the age of 17, Jonas played as a soloist the First concerto of J.S.Bach, BWV 1052 in D minor, with the “Papageno ensemble” (leader Otto Derolez) in Ghent ( Belgium ) and also in Granada ( Spain ) with the “Orquesta de cuerda de las XVIII jornadas” (conductor Santiago de la Riva). In 2005 ( Leuze-en-Hainaut , Belgium ) he collaborated with the chamber orchestra “ Chapelle Musicale de Tournai “ under the directory of “Philippe Gérard“. In 2006 he played in Leuven ( Belgium ) the 2nd pianoconcerto of Fr. Liszt with the “Royal Music of the Belgian Guides” (conductor François De Ridder). In 2007 he played pianorecitals in Ternat (“C.C. De Ploter”), Aalst (Nieuwerkerken) ,Ghent (De Rode Pomp), Hoeilaart (House of Music), Brussels (Royal Conservatory), Fontenay-le-Comte (Académie Musicale) and Salzburg (Mozarteum). In October 2007 he was also invited by "Fortis Vlaams-Brabant" to play a concert with violinist Mark Derudder (Guildhall School, London) in the “Stadsschouwburg” of Leuven in Belgium. In 2008 he played several times at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and in July 2008 he was invited to give a recital during the "Salzburger Klaviersommer 2008" at the "Beethoven-Haus" in Bonn (Germany). Also in 2008 he collaborated with the chamber orchestra "Chapelle Musicale de Tournai" under the directory of "Philippe Gerard". In 2009 & 2010 he played in Salzburg (Austria), Leipzig (Germany), Varallo and Baselga di Piné (Italy).
