André Dumortier

The CIAD, a biennial piano competition created in tribute to André Dumortier, aims to welcome young pianists under the age of 26 who strive for the musical ideals of this elite performer and renowned teacher. Dumortier was a laureate of the 1938 Eugène Ysaÿe Competition, which later became the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition of Belgium.

Since 2003, the competition has brought together over 150 pianists from 26 countries worldwide.

Its 9th edition will take place in Tournai, Belgium, from October 19 to 25, 2025.

The jury consists of internationally renowned pianists.

An original, unpublished contemporary music piece is provided to the candidates by its composer. Finalists will be accompanied by the symphony orchestra of the Chapelle Musicale de Tournai.

1st Prize - André Dumortier Grand International Prize

Claire and Michel Lemay Fund Prize

The André Dumortier Grand International  Prize winner will receive an engagement proposal  for a concert with orchestra as part of the 2026 season at the Chapelle Musicale de Tournai as well as a récital at the Festival Musical du Hainaut.
